I made it to Cantwell today. Drove from Tok across to Fairbanks and then south to Cantwell. Passed through some road construction along the way complete with pilot cars to lead the way. Found my way to Colorado Lake and I am now getting settled in. What a beautiful location it is here. Facing a large pond that is still iced over and right behind me is an even larger lake also covered in ice. The drive in is about two miles of rough dirt road. Many potholes and water hazzards but it is incredible all the same. I'll be spending the next few weeks here occasionally house and dog sitting while the owners makea couple of trips. Cantwell is about 24 miles north of here and it's a small town of about 220 people. Another 25 miles north of Cantwell brings you to the entrance of Denali National Park. Couldn't be a better place to be! |
