The two weeks in Bethel went by far faster then I could have ever imagined. Spending time with my daughter in her home is time I will never forget. After seeing Mandy off to work I called a taxi cab (one of the few ways to get around town) and headed to the airport. A quick flight and I am back in my car leaving Anchorage. My return trip to Michigan will follow some of the same roads but I will be making a few changes along the way. Instead of backtracking through Fairbanks I am going head towards Tok from Anchorage. This will allow for a side trip to Valdez. A night spent in my car along the Richardson Highway found me watching a beautiful sunrise over the Wrangell-St. Elias National Park. Then a drive through Thompson Pass and the Keystone Canyon to Valdez and back made for an incredible day. Back in Tok I followed the same roads I came out on until just before Watson Lake British Columbia. Heading south I will pass through JAsper and Banff National Parks in Alberta Canada and Glacier National Park in Montana. These parks are spectacular with wildlife and vistas to match Denali National Park. I will be going back to explore these more. Now that I am in Montana I will take the Hi-Line (US 2) back to Michigan. My plan is to stay with my parents for a while to help them out before heading back home to Flushing. This summer has been incredible and it has offered me more excitment and adventures then I could plan for. Thank you for joining me on my Odyssey! |
